Unlocking Heaven's Wisdom

Before the first star ignited, there was speech. The Gospel of John does not open with a manger or a genealogy — it opens with the same thunderous Hebrew word that begins Genesis: בְּרֵאשִׁית (bereshit), "in the beginning." John reaches across the centuries to touch the Torah and reveal that the Word spoken at creation was never merely a sound — it was a Person.

The Hebrew word for heaven, שָׁמַיִם (shamayim), ends with the dual suffix -ים, and Jewish sages long marveled at it: why the plural? Because, they said, there are heavens and there is the Heaven above the heavens — the uncreated dwelling of God that no temple, no universe, can contain. Solomon's prayer at the dedication of the Temple trembles with this wonder.
